The Bottom Line
Myfox Equipment & Protection
Myfox is a French company that started as a self-monitored solution. In January of 2016, they announced their intent to add professional monitoring services to their solution making it similar to Scout and SimpliSafe. But is their offer strong enough to protect your home?
Myfox uses their own equipment to protect their customers, and their products are not like anything you can get from traditional home alarm companies.
Their system is built around a hub called the Link. The Link wirelessly links your Myfox devices, to you, and a professional monitoring center. It also communicates wirelessly with other connected devices.
For now, Myfox’s lineup of connected devices is limited. For starters, they offer the IntelliTAG and a camera. The IntelliTAG is a smart door/window sensor. It can tell Link if someone opens your doors or windows while you are away. It can also detect possible break-in attempts. For example, if placed on a door, IntelliTAG can tell if a burglar is trying to kick your door down. So even before the burglar gets in, you and the monitoring center are notified. In addition to the IntelliTAG, they offer a few accessories including a 110 dB siren and key fob.
Myfox is missing many key elements found in traditional security systems including an outdoor camera, glass break sensor, keypad, and more. However, you can fill in the blanks with third-party devices thanks to a few possible integrations. Some of the integrations work directly with the system, and we’ll get to those soon. Some of the integrations are possible if you are willing to spend $229 on Somfy One.
This spring, Myfox will launch a security camera/hub under their new parent company, Somfy. The camera is called Somfy One, and it can serve as an all-in-one hub for Myfox devices and Somfy products. Somfy’s offers include smart blinds, shades, terrace awnings, garage doors, and other shading systems. Aside from working with Myfox and Somfy, the camera will also be compatible with Nest, Amazon’s Alexa, and IFTTT.
With Myfox, you can choose your equipment package. You can start with the Starter Pack (*Hint. I’ve seen the Starter Pack sell for as low as $119.99 on Amazon), Comfort Pack, or the Premium Pack.
|Starter Pack||Comfort Pack||Premium Pack|
|Hub||1 Myfox Home Alarm||1 Myfox Home Alarm||1 Myfox Home Alarm|
|Camera||1 Myfox Security Camera|
|Buy Now||Buy Now||Buy Now|
No matter which package you start with, you can always expand by adding more equipment over time. Additional IntelliTAGs sell for $49.99, additional Key fobs sell for $29.99, and additional cameras sell for $179, though you can save money by buying a 2 or 3-pack of cameras. They also sell a wall mount accessory for the camera for $29.99. Finally, as mentioned above, you can add Somfy One for $229.

So how much does monitoring cost? The thing about Myfox is you’re not required to have professional monitoring. You can self-monitor for free, but you’ll only be able to access live videos, and you can only receive 20 free SMS alerts per month. Also, Myfox will notify your trusted circle of family and friends if an alarm event is detected.
Professional monitoring starts at $9.99 per month. If you have a camera, you should either upgrade to the $14.99/month plan, which adds professional monitoring and 1-day of continuous recording, or the $4.99/month plan which gives you 1-day continuous recording without professional monitoring. You can also upgrade your camera plan by paying another $5/month for an additional 7-days of continuous recording. Added bonus? All the plans are contract free. You can subscribe or unsubscribe anytime you want via the mobile app.
Myfox for Home Automation
On its own, Myfox’s home automation game isn’t strong. They do offer a powerful camera. The Myfox camera records and streams in HD with a 130° field of view. It can digitally zoom up to 4x and has night vision. It also has an enhanced motion sensor. Instead of a good ole’ sensor that may trigger a lot of false alarms, Myfox has combined Infrared detection (PIR Sensor) and image analysis. These two technologies improve alerts and help keep false alarms at bay. Another thing I like about this camera is its privacy shutter. A lot of folks worry about cameras being used to spy on them, so Myfox has added a mechanical shutter to their camera. With a touch of a button on your smartphone, you can tell the camera to close down its shutter and stop watching you.
Works With Nest
Myfox’s home automation game is improved through partnerships with others. Myfox integrates directly with other services, even without Somfy One. For one, it is compatible with the Nest home automation platform. Through this partnership, you can integrate Myfox to the Nest Thermostat and other Nest devices. For example, if your Nest Protect senses smoke, it can trigger your Myfox siren. On the other hand, you can also trigger your Myfox system to arm automatically when your Nest is set to Away mode. As Myfox lacks a dedicated smoke alarm, this is an important partnership for both home automation and home security.
You can also integrate Myfox with many other automation devices and services through IFTTT. IFTTT is an app that creates rules to automate your device’s’ response to certain actions. For example, using your phone’s location services, you can automatically arm your Myfox system when you leave your house.
Customer Service & Support
Very little is known about Myfox’s customer support. We do know that they offer online support and that you can reach them 24/7 via phone call, but we don’t know the quality of the support they offer. There are also few customer reviews online, and Myfox is not BBB accredited.
On the bright side, they promise that returns are fast and easy.
No stress with Myfox! If you are not satisfied with an item, you can return it to us within 30 days in its original condition (packaging, accessories, instructions, etc.), along with a copy of the invoice, for an exchange or refund.
Simply contact our Customer Service by mentioning your order number and why you want to return your product(s). Your money will be refunded within 30 days after we receive your package, up to the purchase price of the order (including tax), excluding shipping costs.
Also, you can buy Myfox through Amazon, Home Depot, Best Buy, or Walmart making your purchase subject to the return policy of the store you purchase from. And as Myfox doesn’t require a monitoring contract, you can simply cancel service if you’re not satisfied and you can definitely move your system to a new location without penalty.
