Who's It For?

Digital Life is only for homeowners; it currently doesn't sell to renters. It's best for those who are willing to be tied down to Digital Life's monitoring service for at least two years, because that's how long Digital Life's contracts are. It's also best for those who aren't planning to move for the next year or so. Although Digital Life has a moving policy, it has a limited service area. If you happen to move outside its serviceable area, you would be on the hook for up to $640. Lastly, it's best for those who have an existing high-speed internet connection. Digital Life uses broadband monitoring. If you currently don't have a stable internet connection right now, we advise against choosing Digital Life.

Why They're Different

Digital Life's equipment pricing is what sets it apart from its competition. Although it requires a pretty hefty upfront payment for the base equipment ($549.99), Digital Life's add-on devices are priced significantly lower than others. For example, other alarm companies sell add-on door/window sensors for around $30. Digital Life offer theirs for only $9.99. This makes expanding and customizing your system a lot less costly.

Key Features & Tech

Here are Digital Life's key features:

Mobile App Access

Digital Life offers a mobile app that users can use to arm and disarm their security system, check on individual sensors and devices, and receive notifications. The iOS version of the app currently doesn't have a rating, but the Android version holds 4.1/5 stars, which is pretty good. However, recent reviews since it was last updated have several negative reviews.

Email & Text Alerts

If you sign up to a Digital Life monitoring plan, you'll also get email and text alerts whenever your system detects something out of the ordinary. This is in addition to mobile app alerts and calls you'll get from the monitoring center.

Professional Installation

Digital Life requires professional installation. A technician will deliver the system to your house and then install it. Unlike most alarm companies, the installation fee is already included in the $549.99 upfront payment.

Base Equipment Package

Your initial Digital Life purchase includes a base equipment package worth a total of $700. The package includes a touchscreen control panel, four door/window sensors,  two recessed door sensors, one motion sensor, one keypad, and one indoor siren. Instead of paying $700 for the equipment, $549.99, which also covers professional installation.

Monitoring Options

Digital Life used to offer a three-tiered monitoring plan, but they recently slimmed down the option to just one: Smart Security. This monitoring option uses broadband for communication, includes text and email alerts, offers remote smartphone and computer access, and of course, professional monitoring.
