Digital Life Monitoring Plan Explained
Not only does Digital Life offer just one monitoring plan, the Smart Security plan is also limited in terms of features. Smart Security offers professional monitoring, smartphone access, and text and email alerts, but nothing more. That said, it's a great option for those looking to protect their homes without the bells and whistles. The bad news is that it lacks security cameras, so you either skip video monitoring or look to third-party camera brands.
Digital Life used to offer two other options, which were removed for unknown reasons. Smart Security & Automation, which started at $54.99/month, offered access to smart lock control and video monitoring using the included Samsung camera. Premium Security & Automation, priced at $64.99/month, adds thermostat automation as well as environment monitoring. Digital Life doesn't say if these offers will be back, but if they're not, it could be an indication that AT&T is diverting its resources to other more profitable investments. If that's the case, we recommend that you proceed with caution.
Digital Life Pricing Vs. Other Companies
Depending on how you look at it, Digital Life can be pricier or cheaper than other alarm companies. It's pricier because its basic monitoring plan starts at $39.99. Other companies offer plans as low as $30/month.
Digital Life's upfront cost is also higher than most alarm companies. With other companies, you can get started with a basic package for only about $200. Digital Life requires a $549 upfront payment. With that being said, Digital Life's base package includes more equipment than base packages from other companies. If you're looking for a starter kit that includes almost everything you need to protect a medium-sized or even large home, Digital Life's offer is a win,
When it comes to add-on equipment, Digital Life is cheaper than most alarm companies. It's often hard to find alarm companies that sell add-on sensors for less than $30 each, but Digital Life's add-on devices go for as low as $9.99 each. Thanks to its low equipment pricing, you can easily expand your security system without hurting your budget.
Ways To Save
With Digital Life's higher than average pricing, it's only logical to look for ways to save. If you're looking to get a Digital Life security system, here are a few tricks and tips to help you stay within your budget.
Wait For Promotions
Digital Life isn't one to shy away from offering promotions. In the past, we've seen the required upfront payment fluctuate from $550 to as low as $0.99. If you time your purchase well, you might be able to get the base equipment package almost for free.
Use Existing Equipment
If you have an existing wired security system installed in your home that still works, Digital Life might be able to convert and monitor it. Instead of buying an entire system, you only need to purchase a conversion kit plus additional equipment if needed. Before buying the conversion kit, however, get in touch with Digital Life first to check if your current system is supported.
Claim Your Insurance Discount
Once your system is set up and running, don't forget to contact your insurance company. Insurance companies offer discounts to homeowners insurance policyholders who install a monitored security system in their homes.
