Brinks' monitoring plans can be somewhat confusing, but we can simplify it by breaking it down into two types. The first type is offered to actual Brinks customers, meaning those who use Brinks' equipment. The second type is offered to Nest Secure users, whether existing or new.
Monitoring Plans For Brinks Users
Brinks security system users have access to two monitoring plans: Home Complete and Home Complete With Video.
Subscribing to Home Complete requires an initial equipment purchase worth $499. You can pay the equipment fee upfront or you can finance it with 0% APR for 36 months. That's roughly $13.86/month for the equipment added to the $29/month monitoring fee. The initial package includes a touchscreen control panel, three door/window sensors, and a motion sensor. A yard sign and window decals are also provided. You can also purchase add-one equipment, but you'll need to pay for those upfront. The good news is you'll get a 50% discount on all add-on equipment you purchase upon signing up. This is a stellar offer, so we recommend planning ahead and listing all the devices and sensors you need before giving Brinks a call.
As far as features, Home Complete provides 24/7 professional monitoring, mobile app access, ASAPer, LiveVoice Assist, and home automation features.
As you might have noticed, security camera access isn't included in Home Complete. That's because video surveillance features are reserved to Home Complete With Video subscribers. As with the previous plan, it requires an initial equipment purchase. The Home Complete With Video package will set you back $599, but it includes a SkyBell Slim video doorbell and an indoor camera in addition to the control panel, motion sensor, door/window sensors, yard sign, and decals. The indoor camera alone is priced $99 if sold separately, so needless to say, the Home Complete With Video equipment package is a sweet deal.
If the base package is not enough, you can purchase additional equipment, including cameras at 50% of their original price. However, Home Complete With Video's monthly monitoring rate is $39, $10 higher than Home Complete's monthly rate.
Nest Secure Monitoring Plan
If you're a Nest Secure user, or planning to buy a Nest Secure system with professional monitoring, Brinks offers a $29/month contract-free monitoring plan. Unlike the first two plans, the Nest Secure plan doesn't require an initial equipment purchase as long as you already have a Nest Secure system installed. In fact, you can activate the plan without going through the usual sales process by clicking here. You'll notice that if you already have a Nest Secure system, you're provided the option to sign a 3-year service contract in order to lower the monthly rate to $19. However, we don't recommend this option because three years is long and you might end up paying more if you decide to terminate the service before the contract ends.
If you don't have a Nest Secure system yet, but planning on getting one, we recommend buying your system from Brinks because of the discount. If you purchase from Brinks, you can get a Nest Guard (hub), two Nest Detects (multi-sensors), and two Nest Tags (RFID tags) for only $399. In addition, Brinks will throw in a yard sign and window decals for free.
Keep in mind that Nest Secure is a hybrid system. It can be professionally monitored or self-monitored, so even if you cancel the monitoring service, you can still continue to self-monitor your system. Adding professional monitoring only gives you the extra peace of mind that when you can't respond to an alert, there's a team of agents who got your back.
