The Bottom Line

Uxari is a solid option for those who want full integration of home security and automation systems. Wireless technology and a free-movers policy means the system works for homeowners and renters, alike. Uxari offers a myriad of home services, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they’re the best in each category.

Key Features & Tech

  • 24/7 Professional Monitoring
  • Cellular Monitoring
  • Locked-In Rates
  • 2-Way Intercom
  • Mobile App
  • DIY Installation
  • Points System
  • Home Automation

Mobile App

Uxari offers a convenient way of controlling and monitoring your alarm system: a smartphone app powered by Alarm.com, one of the leading brands in home security solutions. The app will let you control your security system from anywhere in the world, so long as your phone is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G. It also sends push notifications in case of emergency. The company’s apps are available for both Android and iOS systems.

Technology & Equipment

Uxari 2GIG GC3 tablet control

Uxari offers a broad range of security equipment, but one device stands above the rest: the Go!Control 3 (GC3) control panel. The panel is the brain behind the entire system. It lets you tie all of your devices together and control them using its 7-inch touchscreen interface. The control panel also enables one-touch arming, displays a 5-day weather forecast, and allows over-the-air updates. GC3 even has a modular design so you can swap out older components with newer ones to make sure your panel stays up-to-date.

The GC3 panel is offered as an inclusion to Uxari's more expensive monitoring plan, but users subscribed to the lower monitoring plan get the slightly older GC2 control panel. It has mostly the same features, minus the 5-day weather forecast, and the modular design.

Security Sensors

Of course, the control panel doesn’t work alone. It has a supporting cast of security sensors, each with a role to play in protecting your home. Uxari offers motion sensors, door/window sensors, smoke detectors, CO detectors, and water sensors. These devices are wireless and Uxari’s system communicates via a cellular signal. Cellular signals are less prone to disruptions and ideal for home security.

These features and devices are all satisfactory but they aren’t particularly unique as you might think. In fact, our leading alarm company both offer similar features.

Home Security Cameras

If you wish to add cameras, you have four options:

One, you can get a SkyBell HD doorbell camera. SkyBell HD is a video doorbell that streams videos to your phone when a person rings the doorbell or when it detects motion. It allows you to have a two-way conversation with anyone near your door, even if you’re not at home. The doorbell camera retails at $199.00, but you can get it for free from Uxari.

Alarm.com security Camera

Two, you can get an Alarm.com wireless indoor camera. This is the same indoor camera offered by Frontpoint. And yes, we’ve tested it. It records in 720p HD and supports live streaming to your mobile devices via the Alarm.com app. It also offers night vision and a 110° wide angle lens. However, it lacks audio and the ability to zoom, pan, and tilt.

Third, you can choose the Alarm.com outdoor camera. Unlike the indoor camera, the outdoor camera is designed to live outside, withstanding harsh weather conditions, dust, and even water.

And last, you can get an image sensor. An image sensor is a PIR motion sensor equipped with a camera. The advantage of an image sensor is that it’s completely wire-free. It runs on battery power, so you don’t need to plug it into a power source. However, it has disadvantages too. The device is a camera, not a video camera. It only takes snapshots of motion events; it doesn’t record videos.

Note that adding cameras will increase your monthly fee by $10 ($5 for the image sensor).

Here’s a full list of equipment offerings:

Surveillance Cameras

  • Indoor Cameras
  • Outdoor Cameras
  • Doorbell Cameras
  • Tilt & Pan Cameras

Environmental Protection

  • Carbon Monoxide
  • Flood
  • Temperature Change
  • Smoke

Life Safety

  • Panic Button

Monitoring Packages & Costs

So what makes Uxari stand out from the rest? It’s not what they offer, but how they offer such features. Most alarm companies require that you pay an upfront equipment fee. Others will give you a pre-determined set of devices for free if you sign a long-term contract. Uxari takes the latter approach. If you sign up for a monitoring plan, you will automatically receive a control panel with a motion sensor and two door/window sensors. There are no equipment fees.

Home Protect & Home Complete

Home Protect & Home Complete are the names of the monitoring plans offered by Uxari. Both come standardized with 24/7 Professional Monitoring and Mobile App access, and include a control panel. There are no equipment fees but there is a one-time, $49 activation fee. Both also come with a motion sensor and two door/window sensors.

The primary difference between the two plans is the control panel that comes with them. Home Protect ($29.99/month) comes with an older GC2 control panel while Home Connect ($39.99/month) comes with the newer and more advanced GC3 control panel. Neither of the two plans include home automation and security camera access. Adding home automation will cost you $5 more per month while adding cameras will cost you an extra $10 per month. However, if you're planning on adding home automation or cameras to your plan, we recommend getting the Home Complete plan as the GC3 control panel is more geared towards smart home and video monitoring features than GC2.

Locked-In Rates

Uxari will lock in your monthly fee for the entirety of your contract, no price hikes. And once your contract expires, it will renew month-to-month versus locking you into another three-year contract.

DIY Installation

All of these devices are wireless. No power tools, no drilling, no wires to run, no holes in your wall. In fact, Uxari’s systems are so easy to install that you can do it yourself using a strong adhesive and a little creativity.

Home Automation

Uxari mobile app

As said earlier, Uxari offers more than home security. They can also help you automate different areas of your home. They offer smart locks that allow keyless entry, smart thermostats for smart energy savings, smart lighting systems, motorized shades, and smart garage door controllers. However, you can’t just add home automation equipment to your system. To use automation devices, you’ll need to $5 to your monthly bill regardless of which monitoring plan you choose.

Cloud Storage

Uxari offers security cameras, but what about cloud storage? You'll need to add $10 to your monthly bill to access cloud storage. Uxari offers up to 1TB of cloud storage space for motion and event triggered clips. For example, if your security camera detects motion, it will record and save the clip to the cloud so you can review it in the future. The same thing will happen if the security sensors detect intrusion. But what if you reach the 1TB threshold? Simple. Your oldest clips will be automatically deleted to make room for new clips. If you want to save a clip, you can download it and store it locally.

Uxari Customer Service and Support

Unfortunately, security and automation features mean nothing if the alarm company you choose doesn’t take care of you, their customer. So, does Uxari know how to care for their customers?

First and foremost, a customer-friendly company implements policies that benefit their customers, not take advantage of them. Uxari does well in this area. They give their customers a 30-day trial period. If you’re not happy with the system, you can return it without penalty. In fact, their policy says that they will even pay for return shipping.

Customer-friendly companies also give their customers multiple channels of communication for when they need help, whether in an emergency situation or for troubleshooting the system. Uxari offers live chat support on their website, and offers an open phone line for questions, as well as a customer support hotline for existing customers, and a separate line for cancelling false alarms. You talk to a real person when you have a question, 7 days a week. Their phone line hours are Monday – Saturday, 7 am – 8 pm EST and Sunday, 9 am – 6 pm EST.

Finally, a customer-friendly company is customer-friendly not only on paper but more importantly, in deed. Although we don’t have hands-on experience with Uxari, we secret-shopped them via the live chat feature on their website. Our tester was greeted and assisted by a friendly agent who answered most questions and did so with transparency. He explained their equipment and monitoring plans and even informed us of the activation fee. With other companies, you’re lucky if you can get their agent to talk about their pricing, let alone other possible fees. Usually, they’ll ask you to provide your contact information or pass you off to a phone salesperson. The Uxari agent we talked to didn’t even ask for a name.

Of course, not all customers have had a satisfying experience. Vitex, Uxari’s sister company, holds a strong presence in Florida. The company currently holds a 3.5-star rating on Yelp. One customer noted that,

They tricked my wife into a contract by showing her only the last page and told her she was signing for only installation.1

Another shared,

When their products finally failed, they made up excuses to not have them fixed.

Take note, however, that these negative customer reviews are scarce, and they are focused on Vitex. Though Vitex is related, it’s not the same as Uxari. All that said, Uxari still holds a pretty stellar A+ rating with the BBB.

Customer service summary:

  • 30-Day Trial Period
  • Free Move Policy
  • Multiple Communication Lines
  • A+ BBB rating

Juan & Eddie were at our home today to take care of a problem we had with one of the window sensors. What a satisfying experience and what fabulous customer service. My husband calls them the "A" Team. They really knew their stuff and took care of the problem in record time. We are totally happy with the work they did.

BEWARE of Cancellation policies. They make u sign a 3 year agreement. They don't emphasize it. But when u want to cancel, whatever the reason you are doomed. For me it was due to a divorce, they don't care. They are not going to lose any money but it does not matter. They are not going to provide u the service but they will charge the remaining term on the agreement. Just heartless and pure scam. That's not a way to keep a customer.

BUYER BEWARE-this company tricks you into lengthy contracts that you aren't even aware of. The customer service is horrible and they won't fix anything that goes wrong such as sensors. LOOK ELSEWHERE!
